Private Libraries Association 1907 First Edition Hardback Very Good No Jacket
Half bound in leather with marbled boards, gilt title to spine. Wear to edge with some scratches. A very personal book with book plates of Major General Granville Egerton CB, who was a Seaforth Highlander and also in the Yorkshire Regt. Egerton was one of five officers who were on this military court of enquiry, in 1907. 3 library plates and one letter pasted to fep. One plate is dated 1923 . There is some slight foxing and some ageing. The report is 17pp and there are added pp for all the extgra material mainly paper cuttings. There are some notes by text and presumably these are Egerton's. After Sandhurst Woods was gazetted for the Grenadier Guards In 1902 he joined his own Battalion, just back from South Africa. He had served there but with the 3rd Battalion. No fault was found with him, and he was a zealous , capable and painstaking officer. Woods' own report goes on to then describe problems about him being suitable for Staff College. There are newspaper articles about the case and Woods' treatment in the regiment. The indication is that 50 copies were printed
