About Our Store Goldsworth Books & Prints was conceived back in 1985 by Brian & Joyce Hartles with a small stock which rapidly grew. As our daughter said recently, “Dad, if you had an aircraft hangar you’d fill it”…we wish.In the summer of 2006 with the rapid growth of internet sales we opted for a period of re-direction.For eleven years we ran Surrey’s largest secondhand and antiquarian bookshop ending with fun and laughter with our “haggle sale” when people refused to haggle on the grounds that “I’m British and don’t haggle”…much more fun than a half-price sale!We decided to put a selection of our stock into a purpose-built store and lead a more sedentary life with buying trips throughout the UK and further afield. Our current stock contains books and maps priced from £1 to as little as £10,000. Twenty one years buying and selling wonderful items such as almost all of Arthur Rackham’s Limited Editions , first editions by Dickens, Conan Doyle and maps by John Speed and his contemporaries has enriched our lives and given us a genuine fun time. Yes, we do have a professional approach to everything we do but enjoyment plays a large part.Do have a close look at our site and please feel free to offer suggestions (and money) if you feel it can be improved. |
